There are only two things in life that are certain to me: change and death.
Once I realized that those two things are the only two things in life I can expect for sure, my perspective changed.
I used to feel so much anxiety in the fact that things can suddenly change without warning, it was debilitating at times.
Although I still struggle with rapid change that feels unplanned and potentially complicated or negative…
I’m learning to adapt and find balance in the midst of chaos.
Instead of focusing and obsessing over what I can’t control…
I learned that I can decide to focus on what I do control and let the rest follow life’s natural course.
I learned to find comfort, joy and excitement in the fact that I can for certain expect those things.
Now you must be thinking 💭
“How in the world do you find joy knowing that we are all going to die one day, for sure… and that your life can change out of nowhere in an instant?”
Let me elaborate.
If I know for a fact that
NO ONE WILL LIVE FOREVER IN THIS WORLD and that ANYONE CAN DIE AT ANY GIVEN MOMENT
then it makes it easier for me to not care so much about insignificant and irrelevant things that used to bother me…
It gives me a sense of urgency to pursue my dreams and live my best life now…
It puts an end on my excuses to not seize the moment and seize the day…
It makes me not hold back on my love for people and makes me want to make it known how much I love and care for them…
It helps me get over things like anger, disappointment, frustration and sadness a little more easily…
It helps me be more grateful, appreciative, humble and to not take life, people and things for granted…
It makes me want to do better and be my best self every single day…
It gives me courage to keep on going as long as I can still breath.
It all depends on how you frame the facts. You can choose to see it as a curse or as a blessing.
